VLC graduate Amy Roesler of Minnesota
VLC: Where do you work as a medical Transcriptionist and how long have you been there?
Amy: I work at RI Unlimited and I have been there for 2 weeks.
VLC: What did you do before becoming an MT?
Amy: I was a stay-at-home mom.
VLC: Why did you decide to become an MT?
Amy: I wanted to be available for my kids but also have a career.
VLC: Which of the VLC medical transcription courses did you take?
Amy: Professional edition. (Currently Advanced)
VLC: How long did it take you to complete it?
Amy: 22 months
VLC: Who was your instructor(s)?
Amy: Beverley Henderson was the main instructor when I was in transcription.
VLC: What did you enjoy most about the course?
Amy: The transcription portion.
VLC: Do you find the practice tapes are helping you in a real-work situation?
Amy: Yes, they are very similar to what I am doing now.
VLC: How did you go about applying for jobs?
Amy: I applied over the net.
VLC: How long did it take you to find a job?
Amy: Approximately 2 weeks.
VLC: Are you paid by the line or by the hour?
Amy: I am paid by the line.
VLC: Do you have any advice for anyone thinking of training to be an MT? Amy: Do every report even if you are only required to submit two. It helps to have all the practice possible.
