A day in the life of a VLC MT graduate
We asked VLC graduate Verna Isaac, 29, to record her typical work day to demonstrate the flexibility a MT's schedule can have. Verna works part-time for USAMedTran. Here's how she spends a normal day:
|
7:00 am - Alarm goes off. Get up, get ready. My husband has already gone to work.
7:30 am - Oldest son (age 4) gets up. I get him some breakfast. 8:00 am - The baby wakes (age 7 months). Get him up and feed him breakfast. 8:15 am - The two-year-old boy that I baby-sit is dropped off. Get him settled. 8:25 am - Have my own breakfast. 8:45 am - I check email and check the FTP site for work. If work is there, I download it to be done later. I leave my email notifier on all day, in case something needs to be done STAT. 9:00 am - Play with kids, do laundry, clean house, and whatever else needs to be done, for the entire morning. On Tuesdays, I take the kids and attend a women's Bible Study until noon. 10:00 am - Put my baby down for his nap. 11:30 am - Begin to get lunch ready for the other kids. 12:00 pm - Baby wakes. We all sit down to lunch. 12:30 pm - Clean up. 1:00 pm - Time to start work! Put the baby and toddler down for a nap. If not at playschool, my oldest son watches a movie or plays with toys. Check FTP site again to see if there is anymore work to download. 4:15 pm - Stop work (if not already finished) and get the two-year old ready to go home. Start dinner preparations. 4:45 pm - Husband returns from work. 5:00 pm - The toddler goes home and we all eat supper. 7:00 pm - Bath time for our boys. 8:00 pm - Bedtime for our boys. 8:15 pm - Finish any left over work. If there isn't any, spend the evening with my husband. 9:30 pm - Bedtime! |
